Pere Marquette 1225 - Cadillac Limited
On October 5th, 2019, the Steam Railroading Institute (SRI) operated a steam-powered fall colors excursion through the scenic forests and fields of Northern Michigan. Starting in Mount Pleasant and running to Cadillac, there were plenty of locals and railfans alike out to see the Pere Marquette 1225 roll through, despite it only being around 45 degrees for most of the day. The excursion also commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Michigan State University Railroad Club, which was the group that was founded to restore 1225 to operation. In addition to this event, another milestone was celebrated: 44 years ago to the date, 1225 was fired up for the first time since retirement in 1952 on her display site next to the MSU football stadium.
