The physically largest steam locomotive in the world made modern railroad history on July 15, when it went where no Big Boy went before: Mason City, IA. 2019 marks the Union Pacific's 150th anniversary, and to commemorate the occasion, they revived 4014, which was previously in Pomona, CA. The possibility of the restoration of a Big Boy was often dismissed, but 4014 is a fine reminder that everything is possible.
